timing is everything
i went home for lunch, ate, the minute im done who shows up,fed ex
...my k&n drop in and piaa extremes are here...rip open the box throw it all on the car and back to work without missing a minute...just threw in the ngk plugs and wires saturday along with cap rotor and fuel filter which i got stuck on and didnt get to throw that in ...any tips on reaching that lower fuel line nut..it was a killer getting at ..didnt even get to read the instructions just dropped the k&n in...is there any other tips or just do as i did "dropped it in" tightened the air box screws and went on my way...did feel smoother acceleration in the mid to high rpm areas but nothing much other than that maybe a ponie or two snuck in there somewhere...gotta get some pics for ya real soon..

before I clicked into/opened this thread I thought it was going to be on ignition timing or a timing belt installation...
anyways... are you still stuck on the fuel filter?
basically
-open gas cap
-disconnect battery
-get a bunch of rags and maybe a can to catch dripping fuel
-get some flare nut wrenches and undo the fuel line and top banjo bolt.. its probably on there pretty tight... I think theres a black nut on the filter you can use your open end wrench to grab on/hold onto the filter and hold it in place.. while you use your flare nut wrench to undo the lower fuel line... when its loose some fuel may drip or spray out so watch out and get your rags ready... undo the top banjo bolt too.. and finally the bracket that holds the filter to the firewall.. after everything is undone life it out and replace...
now open your new filter.. there should be a baggie w/ washers... replace the washers for the banjo bolt and fuel fittings.. screw on the bracket to the firewall, replace w/ the new washers and tighten down the banjo bolt and lower flare nut/fuel line and your done..

the K&N drop in really wont gain any hp other than just having a brand new clean filter, the only real advantage is you can clean and reuse...on the 2002 K20C it actually showed a .5hp loss over the stock filter...why not just pull out all the factory piping and strap a K&N cone right on the throttle body...thats what i did and i love it looks pretty cool in the engine bay and the ugly factory piping is gone not to mention a noticeable improvement in throttle response
the steps to changing the fuel filter are easy ...is was just the lower fuel line that i could brake loose...it is a tight spot to get at the nut ..it was cold the morning i was doing it..knuckels got busted up so i was like the hell with it...i"ll try some other day...but thanks for the intrest in helping a fellow out...

the fuel systems on B motors have got to be the easiest to work with out of almost any modern car, i have never done a fuel filter on any car before and i did mine in about 25min, i changed 4 injectors in about 20 holding a cell phone in one hand
now if only i can figure out how to do the pump

The fuel filter is not worth doing yourself, such a pain in the ***. I let my local auto mechanic change it for me for $30.
