Timing Belt Broke, cyl 4 leak down test failed, looking for advise
My 93 RS blew a timing belt. I was driving at about 45, saw a light changing to red, hit the clutch and brake but the power assist was gone. Looked down and tach was at 0. Long story short, got it to my mechanic who gave the 'cliff notes' low down on interference deisgn engines. They tested all the cylinders and #4 failed the leak down test. So for sure I have some bent valves, and possibly damages pistons. I had them stop working on it, so I don't know exactly how badly damaged it is. I'm going to pull it apart myself and check it out.
Any guesses on cost to do this job? I'm also considering doing an engine swap, and no I can't afford a B18C. I'm considering a B16A 2nd gen. Any thoughts on how this motor will perform considering the lower torque?

If the block and pistons are OK, then you could find a used LS head for dirt cheap(I see thme for $50-$100 over on the classifieds board), and just swap it over.
