ticking from engine?

ticking from engine?
got this ticking from engine,sounds like it is coming from the head possible valves?
radiator over heated and has strong smell of coolant oder inside car.coolant spell over engine.ticking gets louder when engine is warmed up and gets lower when going higher on rpm?
