Default Theiving activity?

How many users who never expected anything to happen to their car, did? Maybe you live in a nice neighborhood, gated community, garage your car, whatever. I know I don't expect anything to happen to my car where I live, but at the same time I don't walk out of my house one day dumbfounded my car is gone. The reason for this poll is that if people here have trouble when they thought their car was absolutey safe, then maybe I should re-evalute my own security measures, while at the same time spreading some knowledge amongst users...

Everyone that owns a DC2 please go nuts with your security. I thought I was safe with an autolock and kill switch but they still got it. Do multiple switches hidden the best you can. Also have an autolock(s) and steering wheel club. This is a lot of stuff to do to secure your car all the time but it's really the only way to stop them. low-class thieves

I rarely see scummy people driving european cars so I'm going to go with an Audi or BMW. Honda tuning has gone downhill in the last few years because of all this theft.

My car was stolen out of my driveway. Note that it was perfectly safe, but the thieves actually broke into my house and took the keys.

Was it a really good lookin' tegra, average, crappy? Bad neighborhood or just bad luck? I am trying to figure out if they target above average integra's or they just randomly pick or what?

How was it perfectly safe being in your driveway? Was it garaged or fenced in?

It's an 01 ITR. My driveway was fenced in and locked at the time. It wasn't in a bad neighborhood, in fact it wasn't in any neighborhood as it was so far out in the country.

They found it 9 days later only missing some random interior pieces.

I live in the state with one of the lowest auto theft %'s (Kansas) and my GS-R was stolen right out of my driveway (near a busy 4 way stop) in the middle of the night. The cop couldn't even remember the last time a vehicle had been stolen in our town. They found the "shell" of my car 7 months later in the ghetto (KCK).

Trust me...these thieves have no life. They drive around all day looking for nice Honda's/Acura's to jack. Then they wait for their opportunity to strike. IMO It's just not worth putting all that $ into your Integra because there is a great chance that it will just end up getting stolen.

I drive an 00 Eclipse GT now. Obviously it's no VTEC Honda, but at least I can sleep at night knowing a thief could care less about a Mitsu.

Just my $.02

Amen. That's the reason I'm not buying another Honda. I will actually be able to get a good, worry free nights rest.
