TEIN basic or H&R/Koni setup

if you want to be able to adjust the level of dampening of the shock, then get the konis. the only advantage the TEIN basic setup would have an over your h&r spring / koni shock combo would be that it has a large range of ride height adjustability, and offers a small amount of spring rate adjustability. although konis will give you the option of changing the spring perch, which adjusts the height very slightly... do a search if you need more info
i would get koni yellows w/ ground control coil overs. that would have the dampening and height adjustibility. And that would still cost you less the teins.
please do yourself a favor
stop playing that mix and match game
it will get you nowhere and end up beign unsatisfied
so go the a real suspension
like tein
or H&R

I dont see how anyone could be unsatisfied with koni yellows and a good spring.
Spending a lot of extra cash for Teins is :
1. bling bling jdm importers cost
2. the name
3. integrated threads for height adustability, you wont notice much difference in performace with integraged threads or threaded sleeves.
4. the helper spring on the tiens(not basic) for a woman like ride.
5. hype
Get koni yellows with ground control coilovers. tein is too much hype.

If Im spending $800 on a GC/Koni setup, Ill spend $850 and get Tein SS or H&R, Neuspeed, etc.
Why? Full coilovers were designed to be full coilovers. The springs were engineered with the shocks and vice versa. I would take Tein personally, as I prefer their spring rates and the quality of the product they produce.

I just installed tein basics on my car yesterday and I love them. I was in the same position, I was riding on h&r on stock shocks and rather than spending 500 something on some koni yellows I opted to spend 200 more to get some full coilovers.
If those two suspension setups you listed are your only choices, then I would say H&R and Konis. The Tein Basics aren't anything special. Tein is mostly known for their ride quality, although their high end stuff is good.
