Default tein basic coilover, anyone have it yet?

I am trying to decide between tein SS and tein Basic. from what I can tell the only difference is the adjustable dampning that the SS has. I am in a position to get the SS for 850 or the Basic for 640. Anyone have either and can give some opinions? Thanks.

From what I've heard they still have problems rusting.

You might want to call Tein and see if they have started teflon coating the damper colar, but I doubt they have. Most of the teflon coated ones were the models above the SS.

yeah, I heard about the rust issue. Do you know of any diy modifications you can do to prevent it? is there anything you can buy to coat it with yourself? thanks.

I think you just have to constantly clean them and you'll be fine.

I'm not sure if you can use a teflon coating spray which you can buy anywhere and coat it.

If you do a search for Tein rust problem or of the like, there's a few topics on it. Most people just clean them or something frequently.

i'd go w/ the SS' due to the ride height and dampening adjustability. if you are not into dampening adjustability, then go w/ the BASIC.

I got them off group buy center. I ended up having to pay tax because it was a local place. so I basically got them for 700
