Default taillight problem...

ight well when i turn the lights on my passenger taillight is brighter than the driver. and when i hit the brakes the passenger side goes dimmer whereas the driver side is normal. i put the same bulbs in the two and the passenger side doesnt work so i put the another bulb which is a lil bigger(came with it) and went way brighter like stated above. the two bulbs i put in were meant for it the one that was in before came with the car when i bought it from the guy. the driver side works fine. if this helps its a '98 gs.

You somehow put the bulb in backwards. I think it takes an 1157 bulb.

What is this "other" bulb? Does it have markings? Someone may have forced it into the socket which makes the 1157 not fit anymore.

Check the wiring on the socket with a multimeter. Perhaps the socket was replaced, modified, or damaged. This is a bit unclear to me:

Do all bulbs work properly on the driver side?
