synchro replacement
My 2nd gear grinds when I get down hard on it. Trans has a good number of miles on it(197K), but all gears work properly.
like most posts ive read on how the honda synchros act im pretty sure its the 2nd gear synchro. This is a pretty bad grind, and i know the penzoil/gm synchromesh god cant fix this one.
Question is, has anyone ever rebuilt their GSR trans? Im fairly mechanically inclinded, and i was wondering, since ill have the motor out if i can do this my self or pay a shop to.
How much would it cost to pay a trans shop to replace the needed parts,
Also how much would it wind up costing me in parts if i chose to do it myself. Any manuals/writeups to show how? any special tools etc.
Any help is appreciated.

Buy yourself a Helms manual and make sure you have tools.
tranny shop would charge in the neighborhood of a couple hundred bucks if you brought them the tranny out of the car.
Should only cost you what the 1-2 syncro set and 3 qt's of mtf cost unless you feel like replacing bearings and whatnot.
