Default supercharging???

Hey, I'm a new member and new to cars. I have an acura integra gs (2000) with over 100,000 mile and wanted to supercharge it. Is this a good idea or will I break something? Should I rebuild my engine? What about my compression ratio, I currently have a 9.2 to 1 ratio, should I change that for the supercharger? What other modification would I need? I already have a cam and a modified ignition system, exhaust and intake. And lastly what the heck is my engine code? I believe it's a B18B is this correct?

Depends on what you wanna do with the car. If you're looking for crazy globs of power, then yeah, you should consider rebuilding the engine and going turbo. If you're just going for a really good increase in power throughout the entire power band, then supercharging is your friend.

Since you're worried about your engine, I suggest you do a compression test on each cylinder to see where you're at, then use your results to decide if force induction will be your friend.

All things considered, I would suggest a supercharger if you're not looking for 250hp+ to the wheels. If your engine is healthy then you can basically just bolt on the Jackson Racing Supercharger system @ 6 lbs. of boost but you will definitely want to have it turned. Also, colder plugs and a upgraded fuel pump are recommended for this setup.

I guess i'm against a supercharger regardless of your goals. There is no setup where a turbo is going to perform worse than a supercharger.

There are a few things you need to consider when thinking about the JRSC. First of all, the SC doesn't have the ability to cool the air charge; therefore, on hot days after running hard the air charge becomes very warm which can lead to detonation. There are ways of combatting this, but most are expensive.

I would suggest reading the Forced Induction FAQ. There is a direct comparison between a JRSC and a Drag turbo kit....the short and sweet is that the JRSC makes more power from 1000-3200rpm and the Drag kit takes over from there. This is on the same engine at the same PSI. Check into it..
