Stiff Axel..Replace grease?
I brought one of my axels to acura. I took them out because I had to drop my tranny. After I took them out...the part that goes into the tranny, is nice and movable, like back and forth. The other end near the hub is stiff...Its hard to move, and when it does move, it stays that way. Keep in mind there is NO leaks on the boot, and NO tears...
So I brought one to acura. Mechanic there said that I should take off the boot, and regrease it. and put it back together.
So i bought new clamps for the boots... 8 bux.
Tomorrow I will take them apart... Ill take pics. Any ideas? If it comes to it...what do you guys think of autozone axels?

well usually when you buy new axels its stiff....but you should see if regreasing it will help...

Since you already have the axles out of the tranny I'd replace the grease. You can get a replacement boot kit for about 20$. It includes grease, bands, clips that retain the spider thingamajig, and a new axle nut. I did both outer and inner boots in about 4 hours. That's including removing/intalling the axle.
I got the bands for 8 bux..for 2 sides, and the grease already, that was like 3 bux. No need to buy the kit or boots. Boots are fine...Ill just replace the grease then.
Alright, I took the boot off the outboard joint...there is grease..its still very stiff tho.
How do I go about taking the outboard joint off?? thanks
