Default Static electricity

I have an LS with cloth interior. It seems like everytime I get out of the car and close the door, I get shocked cause I'm touching the metal of the door frame. Do you guys know what I can do so that this doesn't keep on happening cause it's starting to **** me off.

This is my theory:

Don't worry, there is nothing wrong with your car. Based on your "problem," if you shuffle your left foot on the floor mat while you drive etc, you can build up enough static electricity to produce a shock.

it's from sliding across the seat.

either get ejection seats, or hold your hand on the roof as you get out

Hold your key, touch the tip of the key to the chassis of the car to discharge the electricity. You'll see a pretty blue arc.

On one of the really dry days here, I got out of my car and went to close the door. POP goes a HUGE blue arc. It was bright as an LED and it was daytime! I felt like that ugly hooded guy from Star Wars, but unfortunately it also felt like someone smashed my finger with a hammer.

Hah...tHis happens all the time in my car. It's funny when it happens to guRLies b/c they fReak out. I've learned to live w/ it but um...touching something non metal before getting in and leaving the car you'll be ok. Personally I forget it's gonna happen and it's just somethin that wakes me up.

Actually all cars have this problem. I've actually stopped closing the door with my hand because of it and have gotten into the habit of using my foot to close the door. Of course I use the top part of my shoe to close, wouldn't want to scratch anything.

Ya I get the same problem. It happens only on cold days or semi-cool days, and I have figured it out to be the shoes I wear. It can even sometimes be the pants. Some girl told me that through the motion of the wheels during driving it builds up static and it somehow transfers it to your body. Sounds like bs, who knows. All I do now is I open my door, step out, stick out my middle fingers knuckle ( like if your gonna give a charlie horse) then punch the son of a bitch with like 3 lbs of force, you get shocked at the same time but your nerves picked up the sensation of hitting something so you dont feel the pain. It's all very scientific if you ask me
