Default State ref smog

ok long story short, trying to get motor bared. went today and passed smog but failed visual. guy said when i go back he has to do everything again, only thing is for smog, on HC the max was 121 and what i got was 121. I was thinking if i go again it might be higher? . so what can i do to bring my HC down a bit? My timing as at 15btdc. also i think high HC means running rich? and that can be because of my 255walbro. so yea....

changing oil surprisingly brings down the HC's, assuming nothing else is wrong.

well from the looks of that pic your EGR system is modified, judging by your avitar i am gonna guess that you have a DA? is it an automatic? your fuel cap failed visual, i dont know how the hell it did that because i have never seen that and it appears that you have improperly routed vacuume lines. Depending on which lines were ran where that could be the culprit for the max measured HC. I briefly looked at your page with your car on it, how about listing your mods for us that you had on the car when you took it to the ref

You are looking at the wrong side, look right to where it says modified, it's the vacuum lines, wiring to sensors, and fuel injection. It was because i had the fpr valve connected when i wasn't supposed to. Could that be the reason why? Having the fpr connected to the fpr valve then back to the intake manifold? and yes the car is a DA and WAS heavily modified .

it certainly could be, that could be causing you to get that 121 on your HC, as far as i am aware the 92 GSR doesnt have an EGR system (last time i looked under my hood i didnt see one) so i dont get why they tagged you for that too

DIU you got tagged for MODIFIED EGR FUNCTIONAL AND SPARK CONTROLS (either that or fuel cap, since you took the pic at an angle its hard to see) i SEE the **** on both sides my friend but if you fix one that doesnt make the other 2 magically go away

your HC isnt high considering i have had mine over 600ppm b4, could be a number of things but typically high HC (a lot higher then yours) implicates some sort of failing cat or richness

my friend my friend, you gave 2 wrong answers. I passed today by hooking up the rail on the back of the intake manifold, retard timing from 15 to 14, and run fresh 89octane. and no man i didn't get tagged for EGR, GSR motor didn't have an EGR, look at the left, it says N/A.

my friend you have 3 things highlighted above, those 3 things are things that need fixing/readding, etc.......again the angle that you held the sheet at is pretty bad but those 2 additional things could have affected it.....but congrats on passing :-D
