As i was driving on the freeway, my car died. I replaced the distriubtor and it started again. However whenever it starts i can retart it as many times as i want, but when i shut it off and try to turn it on the next day, it will not start. Sometimes when i disconnet the plugs to the distriubtor and loosen the bolts that hold it and slide it around messing around with the timing, then tightening it back down it starts again. BUt then the same thing happens again once it cools down and i try to start it next morning. What could be the problem?

 

its either the ground cable, or the ignition switch.

 

before it died, it would missfire around 3000 rpms and stutter. i washed the engine bay before that maybe it mesed up some electricals? any ideas of what to check? thanks.
