Default Starting Problem

Its not really a starting problem its just that everytime I start my car, whether its in the morning, afternoon, or anytime I start it. My RPM jumps to 2. Usually and isn't it suppose to be at 1.5 or 1? Then when I move the steering wheel while its warming up, the RPM jumps like 4 marks. Anybody know whats the problem? How I fix it also? Thanks

We'll. As a general rule 800 rpm is a good idle speed. Your throttle plate could be stuck somehow. There is a pin you can adjust it with. I'm not too sure how to do that but someone on the forum should know. I have no idea why it would jump to 4k rpm tho. Thats scary. Unless you mean it just went up 4 ticks. Im not too sure what you meant. Anyways, are you throwing any check engine codes? Im not too sure what it could be. Anyone else wanna help him out. I wasn't much help i guess.

Ben

Look for vacuum hoses that are disconnected, or maybe a leaking gasket on your intake manifold or throttle body. There's vacuum in your manifold, and if something's leaking it lets air in thru the leak... that's a 'vacuum leak'.

it's normal for the RPM's to jump a bit when you turn your steering wheel....but a 2k idle seems a little high....
