Default Starting issue..

Alright guys ive got a 98 gsr with the jdm swap... cluster an all. Big problem getting hte car started. i just replaced the battery thinking that was the problem but it didnt fix it.

the play: i get in the car 2 days ago and go to crank it up, turn it to the accesories.. the lights come on, then try to crank it and it completely dies. I have an aftermarket alarm on it.. i didnt do the wiring or anything, the previous owner did it themselves and did a pretty decent job. anyways, i can tap the negative on the battery and the alarm will trip for about 3 seconds, then i have a little power again and the cycle repeats. i can jump start the car but im outa luck. any help would be appreciated

so is the car crankin over? or does it just click? whats it doing when you turn the key? does the car just die?, killin the battery. i dont think im readin it right but it sounds like your alternator, if its crackin over then might be your starter. the coils are not connecting. does your battery keep on drainin?

Sounds like something is draining your battery. You can easily test to see if something is if you have a multi meter. It could be the alarm, or maybe even your stereo draining the battery. Does it spark pretty big when connecting a fresh battery? The bigger the spark the more current its drawing.

sounds like the alarm is causing you problems. From what i understand the symptom is fixed by dissconnecting and reconnecting the battery but it just does the same thing a gain.

I had an alarm that did this when the battery died or i dissconnected the battery i never really found a way to fix it other than removing the fuse for the alarm. Another thing that you might wanna try is to check and make sure all ur grounds are good. That often cause the symptom of you turning ur car to acessory and everything works but as soon as you try to crank the car everything goes dead. Check all the ground connections (also make sure that ther all ther) and make sure that your battery connections are clean. being that you just did a swap make sure that you got all ur grounds on. Goodluck

i have no clue how to disarm the system, but i dont think that it is the issue, i replaced the ignition fuse, and im about to check the grounds... they are all tight but im gonna pull them and clean them off if needed. battery connections are clean too.
