The starter on my 94 auto ls teg is going on me. Is this a easy DIY fix and how much should i be able to get on from a junkyard for? Any advice/links would be appreciated

try taking it to starter rebuild shop. It may just need new brushes like mine did. It is definitely a do it yourself job. Just don't forget to disconnect the battery.

It is really easy, if you know where it is you can replace it.

Its held on by only two bolts, a ground, and one electrical connector. It took me about 20min to do it for the first time.

There are three brands of Honda starters. If you have a Nippondenso (I am pretty sure this is the one) then you can just replace the starter contacts inside. It is a $10 fix. Most Honda dealers will have the contacts in stock. It is also only a ten minute job once you get the starter out. I have been working on Hondas/Acuras for quite a while, and I have never had to replace a starter motor, only replace the contacts. It seems like the only ones that have problems are the ones that you can get contacts for.

I agree with mighty mouse. I only paid 40 for the brushes installed. If you can do it yourself then it will be even less

I never knew this was such a problem. I just had the pleasure of paying to have mine replaced since I didn't have time to do it myself.

I gave a quick little theory as to what causes starting problems in this post. Just a little something I picked up from class. It's the last post in the thread. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=426323

Hope it answers your clicking question.. Good Luck..
