Default EDIT: Possible Distributor Problem? (Originally Starter Issue?)

yO, what up HT.com

Lookin' for some light to be shined on me from hopefully some or at least one of you knowledgeable honda heads.

Here's the issue: Car doesn't start. When turning the key in ignition motor does not turn over or crank at all. All i'm getting is a "click" each time. I was told by a local mechanic to take the "butt-end" (not too clear if that's what i remember) of a hammer and tap the starter while someone else tries to start the motor. Just wanna know more on this before I move on to possibly spending money to buy replacement parts.

-Okay...tried tappin' the starter and teg didn't start. So not likely the problem. Did notice the "click" noise which sounds like its coming from the dizzy. Anybody have a similar issue before?

Long Story: Integra has a Viper 791XV system installed w/ Automatic start. 1 day the alarm tripped on me. I tried turning the car off and the motor started choking as if it were starting repeatedly (really, the only way i can describe it). Ever since, car hasn't started and sat in garage for over a year. Trying to fix problem with tax refund $$$.
