starter or battery?
my gsr has trouble starting on cold mornings. when you first crank it over, you can't even hear the solenoid engaging until after a few tries - then it would catch and starts imeadiately - which leads me to suspect it's the starter - but like i said, it's only after overnight that i have this problem so it could be the battery because this is at it's weakest moment. anyhow, i was planning on replacing both the battery and starter until recently i ran across an article on rebuilding starters on team integra. very nicely reSearched but they didn't include any pictures for reference. i could probably pull this off for i am very familiar with electric motors but has anyone else done this procedure? what is included in the kit and what needs to be replaced other then the brushes? if anyone have an exploded diagram of the g3 starter would be greatly apprecialte.

iono if your area has autozone or not..but if you do, go there and they will test your battery and alternator for free. advice towards rebuilding starter is not to do it. better to just go and buy a rebuilt one. make sure you test to see whats causing the problem first, don't just go and start replacing things. also, check your wiring to make sure theres no corrosion and no loose connections.
we have an autozone but i don't think they'll be able to pinpoint the problem because the car will be warmed and sufficiently charged when i get there. whats wrong with rebuilding my own starter? how hard can that be replacing a few contacts?

so take the starter out, go up to autozone (or go to az and take the starter out if need be. it's only 2 bolts and a nut.
) and test the starter. you're bound to find the problem.

what exactly is the difference between "rebuilding" a starter and buying a "rebuilt" one, other than $100 at autozone?
there is actually a thread in the archives about this exact procedure with pictures. i have also done it....and it would have worked better if i had remembered that my starter is not from a 94+ integra.....
if it turns out to be the starter, you can save yourself a lot of money (parts were $15 at my local toyota) by doing this very simple contact replacement procedure.

thanks for reassuring me in going ahead with this procedure. funny how i googled starter rebuilding and saw that thread already. very informative indeed. i will try it even if i don't need to right now.
Holy **** man i just did the rebuild and it worked. But you know what I dont think u need to buy the new stuff from toyota. Just sand everything down (copper). Basically just cleaning everything. O well thanks for the help.
