Default Which starter?

In the middle of replacing my starter right now. all was good until i took out my original & noticed it was quite a bit different then my newer one that i just purchased from LsPride who i found on this forum. my tranny is a cable ys1 and the teeth on the original starter has the teeth sticking out about an 1.5 inches and the one i just got the teeth only stick out about .5 inches at the most. the whole part that goes into the tranny is different.

so my question is are different starters required for different trans.? or whats the deal?

ORIGINAL:

REPLACEMENT:

thanks in advance

are you sure your original starter isn't just seized out? the teeth kick out when power is actually given to the starter.

Give it a try. If it grinds only once it's not gonna damage anything. Repetitive grinds eventually will.

yea, it looks like the same thing...and the older one just looks stuck out...when power is applied that shaft comes out to turn the flywheel and when its not engaged it pops back in like a turtle...bolt it up homie...not much can go wrong...just dont force anything...
