Icon3 start up problem....

ok i know there are a lot of "weird start up" threads but i didn't see any in relation to my problem. so here it goes...

i have 91 DA and couple of weeks ago it was startin up weird. meaning i would either have to prime it multiple time then crank it or prime it then crank and hold til it started up. checked the timing its fine, changed out the spark plugs, so then i thought it was the fuel pump goin bad so went out and bought a walbro 255lph. that fixed the problem for like a week. the car was startin right up with no problems but yesterday it went back to its old ways. haven't messed wit the car since puttin the pump in, so i have no idea what the problem could be.

please help me out any good input would be great thanks

Just throwing it out there but have you changed the fuel filter? Excessive clogging would cause a hard start.

The new pump is capable of flowing more than the stock and able to take the higher pressure it would take to push through the filter.

He's saying the walboro would pump the gas at a stronger rate than the old pump which would allow the gas to travel the lines enough to operate the car until the buildup became too much for even the walboro to pump through. Simple even for a Monday

The fuel filter is in the engine bay and catches any gunk and dirt and deposits before the fuel is actually introduced into the ignition process. With it clogged you could get occasional starts. No start. It's easier to change the fuel filter than it is the pump so don't worry too much

ok put the filter on but nothing still giving me the same problem. my next guess is the main relay so that will be next on the swap out list. my friends says it either that or fpr is goin bad but idk. another says that is could be the intake mani gasket that it has a leak. also wanted to mention that when i tried to raise the fuel pressure the guage didnt move one bit.

SO PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!!!!

unfortunately it did not solve the problem car still starts up weird. plus idk if i mentioned it but wen i try to adjust the fuel pressure it wont do anything. my gauge still reads the same. so ima try replace it with a OE one and see if that fixes it.

Let me know if the fpr fixed it. I'm having a similar problem right now with my car, and i'm debating about buying a new fpr to see if its the problem. All signs point to it.

Well you can hear your fuel pump when you turn your ignition to ON. You'll hear a low humming noise coming from the backseat of your car. If you don't hear that, then you know your fuel pump doesn't work.

ok after a week or so the car fuel pressure was dropping. so after swaping the main relay, injectors, and fpr. it ended up being the fuel line that connects to the pump and bracket ( dont know wat to call it) was really bad. it swelled up and burst. so i swapped it out and boom. no more problem.

thanks everyone for your help
