Start up delay
When I turn the key to the start position and hold it there, nothing happens for a few seconds and then it starts. At first it was just a couple seconds but this morning i had to hold it there for at least 10 seconds until the car started. When I mean nothing happens I mean nothing, the cars not cranking. Is it a bad connection somewhere? Oh and Ive been trying to figure out when this happens, but it just seems to happen on and off. It seems to only happen when I leave it sitting for awhile(overnight) and then throughout the day when I'm running errands theres no startup delay. Any thoughts?
the only thing i can think of is the battery or starter. my ej had a delay once in a while when i turned the key, and sometimes it doesnt start at all. u can take it to auto zone and they will check it for free. and while ur there check everything else u can think of
The ign. switch is most likely the problem... http://www.visualimpressions.ca/switch/

To confirm it is not the starter motor do a "by-pass" jump, unplug the starter lead from the starter solenoid, using a jumper lead with one end connected to the batt. pos.(+) post, touch the other end of jumper lead to to the solenoids starter terminal, BE CAREFULL engine WILL crank even with ign. switch off and car in gear, make sure car is not in gear and hand brake is set. 94

Ya I'm thinking ignition switch too. It's been happening for a few months hopefully it doesn't get worse and affect driveability. The car is going to be parked for awhile after the end of this month, so I'll have some down time to figure it out.
OK so I did replace the ignition switch and it completely fixed the issue and now about 1 year later its doing it again!! Is it because I did the install bad because I had to rewire the alarm into the ignition switch and I'm kind of scared I might have did a hack job on the wiring causing this problem to come back. But i'm convinced it is probably something else. Any ideas?
Try the bypass jump or test the start circuit... https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...&highlight=fcm .94

lol you held the key there for 5 minutes? I usually give up after 30 seconds and then i'll try again. But ya do what I did and replace ignition switch if you want to temporarily fix the problem for a year =]
