Default squealing distributor?

ok I'm driving home in my CRX, I have a B18a ('91) so I figured I'd just post in the Integra section. anyway I notice a squealing noise so I figure its the belt, I get home pop the hood and figure out its not the belt the distributor that's squealing, bad distributor barrings??? I figure I need a new distributor but I figured I'd check here first.

yup sounds to me like your barings are shot. If there is indeed a racket coming from the distributor then it's time for either a new housing and transfer all the guts over. Or if you can find a good deal on a new one, replace the whole thing. Happened on one of my da's. It was a better deal to buy a whole new distributor from a parts store than just a housing from honda. It's real easy to install too.

Better hurry and replace that sucker. Don't doddle or you'll end up on the side of the freeway like me

yeah you need to hurry and replace it. If it seizes you could be in big trouble.

Some parts store online can sell you just the rod with the bearing on it. I had that problem and went to the junk yard and removed the rod for 5 and replaced it in the old distributor.
