What is the approximate cost to have a B18C rebuilt? OEM parts and otherwise. I kinda wonder if there are any reputable shops in this country anywhere after reading some posts about horror stories. I guess you just have to get a good warranty in writing and hope you don't ever need it and hope they honor it if you do need it.
I think type r rods, pistons and cams would be a nice upgrade as well.

No, the Spoon motor has at least higer C/R pistons and a built valvetrain. I'm pretty sure it also has been balanced and blueprinted, as well as some other goodies.
would like to hear what all has been done to a spoon motor

Not to be a dick, but you have alot of learning to do bud. Spoon motor and turbo do not go together. You can't have a header (no "S") with a turbo. And an intake is useless with a turbo.

Your list looks fine minus the spoon engine, header, and intake. Build the B18b and boost it, and you'll be good to go.
The script writers for F&F was really, really wrong to have used "spoon" and "turbo" in the same sentence.

It's not the fact you can't have one. But when people say header they mean N/A header, not a turbo header. And you can also have an intake, but the N/A style ones won't work either. I knew he didn't understand any of this concept, so I was trying to make it simple for him.

No modified internals.
They take it apart, rebalance and respec it, and put it back together with a thinner headgasket. That is IT

Go with a local machine shop. If you don't know of any, ask local dealerships. Oftentimes dealerships will outsource their engien rebuilds to shops who specialize in it. Saves them time, money, and supplies.
Now, I live near Detroit where machine shops are plentiful and cheap, so prices are typically a little lower than you might find down there.
An engine (not including trans) hot tank & rebuild at a local shop is typically $600-1000. Just the bottom end is closer to $400-600, and that's probably what I'd recommend. The wide margins are to account for parts costs based on what needs to be fixed/replaced.
Take the head in when you drop off the shortblock and just ask them to take a look at the surface and then check if it's straight. This will run you anywhere from free to $50 based on the person (some will look at it and say 'don't bother' right away, others will spec it all out). If there are problems have it surfaced or milled, but generally I'd hold off on the top end rebuild until you're throwing new cams in it or whatnot.
Type R rods are alright but for the price you could pick up a set of Eagles or Crower Econobillets, which are much lighter. Figure $2500-3500 for a b18c. $1000 for a nice rebuild. Add $700 for rods & pistons. You've still got $1800-800 left before you hit the $6K mark to spend on your topend or boltons.
And you got a trans with your motor, too.
