Default Speedometer Help Please Someone...

I don't post up here very often, but I figured what the heck...

I am currently having a problem with my GS-R cluster. It was working fine before the car went down for about 2.5 months. I fixed the car, started to drive it, and the speedometer itself would jump around, stay at the correct speed, jump some more, and then just 2 days ago, it died completely.

Also, with the cluster acting this way, it is not reading mileage while driving the car.

RPM's, Gas, Engine Temp, etc still all work fine.

Anyone have any experience with this? Did my gauge cluster just die out and it's time for replacement or what?

I recently took it out and checked for any loose connections, etc, but found nothing.

Help would be outstanding at this point...would hate to buy a new one only to have the same problem.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

The cluster has roughly 189,000 on it.

Thanks!

If you feel like you're losing power and if your car isn't accelerating as well as it should be than it might be your distributer...

---- yuou think its the sensor instead of the cluster itself? cause it still works only @ certain specific times. but barely.

VSS's go out more often than speedometers. But since your check engine light came on, it is most likely for the VSS.

how much does a VSS run?

It is your VSS as earlier stated. Before you go out and replace it. Unplug it and blow it out and plug it back in. I had the exact same problem. Just unplugged it and replugged it back in. Worked fine. If that doesn't help, prob has to be replaced. Good luck.
