the speedometer doesnt work on my 97 integra ls. during the time before it totally stopped working and after it stopped working it would work sometimes but not always. do you guys have any idea what it could be? also the check engine light seems to have tripped at around the same time the speedometer stopped working. i hooked it up to an obd2 scanner and it recognized the check engine light but displayed no trouble codes any advice would be greatly appreciated

 

sounds like a speed sensor to me

 

your check engine light is coming on b/c your speedometer isnt working, your speedometer isnt working for 1 of 2 reasons, bad speed sensor, or bad speedometer cable..
Start with the sensor, its easier.

You might try taking it apart and checking all the gears, if they are in tact, then replace it, if it doesnt work with the new one, go for the cable. one of those 2 should fix your problems

or option three, just go without, i went 6 months without a speedometer.. you get used to it

 

yea ive been without mine for a minute it doesnt really bother me that much just one of those things that kinda bugs you in the back of your mind. thanks tho man
