Default spark plug removal

not sure if the kid who had the car before me put "anti seize" stuff on the previous plugs...should I attempt to remove them for replacement, or bring it to a shop? What would happen if the tops snapped off on me?

anti-sieze should make the plugs come out easier, and they will be less likely to get stuck. That's the whole point of using that stuff. Whether you should use it on spark plugs or not I don't know, but they should be easier to get out.

PatrickGSR94 is right. "Anti"-seize compound will make it easier to take out. I put a little bit on my plugs everytime I change them out. I also use the stuff to lube my poly bushings for my sway bars!

It shouldn't be a problem to get them out whether he did use the anti-seize or not. If you're unsure about breaking them then take it to a shop. I just changed mine yesterday and they were a real pain in the a$$ to get out. Just don't jerk on the wrench, or you'll shatter 'em.

I don't see how it'd be a problem.. the torque spec is really low <20 ft-lbs or something like that so unless your really weak (not saying you are) you shouldn't have a problem.... go pick up a spark plug socket (which has a rubber grommet to grab the plug out after its unscrewed and a ratchet extension to get into the recessed spark plug wall...

for something so simple even if your an amateur I don't see the point of paying $$$ for a shop to do it... I've had several cars.. and in over 300K of driving over my lifetime (diff cars) and many spark plug changes in diff cars.. I've NEVER had the tops snap off...
