this is whats up i have a 1992 integra with a B18A1 it has I/H/E Skunk2 intake manifold and buddy club cam gears set on +0 -0, and AEM pulleys and a dc sports SS, this is my question i raced my friend who has a 1991 CRX with a dohc ZC motor with intake, NGK wires, HF tranny, a ACT clutch, and dc headers and he pulls like 2 cars on me, and my friend has a EG6 with a sohc ZC , with AEM cai, and exedy stage1 and parts from stage 2 clutchand SI tranny, and he pulls a car 1/2, and after putting the cam gears in my third gear youst to pull hard now when i hit 6000 rpms it takes at least 2 or 3 seconds to red line anything will be helpful, i know i make more HP, and i'm a pretty good driver but i don't know please help

those cars are lighter which mean better power to weight ratio, stop trying to drag race, hondas arent made to drag, go more into suspension and worry about handling before u lose control and crash ur car

well that CRX should be taking u. He's running Vtec plus his car is lighter than yours. Now the guy with the SOHC, u should be taking him. check to make sure ur cam gears havent moved outta place. u might wanna upgrade to some Crower 62403 cams if u wanna take the EG6 w/ no problem and keep up with the rex

the crx has dohc ZC and it doesn't say that it has vtec on valve cover or maybe you're right, thats pretty sad though cause if i get the cams all he will have to do is the samething or maybe some other mods and he'll win again but thanks of the advise

I swear, I'll never understand why people make these kinds of posts. No offense to you.

Your car is 12 years old probably running the tired original motor and you get confused when it doesn't perform to your standards.

If you want performance especially in a honda, you have to at least make a small commitment. It takes more to be fast than your average bolt ons.

How many miles do you have on that thing anyway? I think you should be glad that you have a reliable car that's fun to drive despite being 12 years old.

my car has 105,xxx miles i love my car, and everything about it my thing isn't really drag racing i perfer road racing or autox but when i used to race these guys i would put cars on them, then my friend gets headers and he puts 2 cars on me but its alright thats why you build cars trial n error i'm still proud of my car and its performance but just wanted to get some answers cause i ask them and all they tell me is basicly they have skills and i suck as a driver so i figured the guys at honda tech have answers my car is faster then theres when it comes to turns in stuff cause they don't know how to take them they figured just rush in to a corner and no breaking and down shifting will win. but thanks any way for the posts

holy CRAP where are the PERIODS??? I can barely read this post

and the DOHC ZC does NOT have vtec, whoever said that

S2 IM and cam gears are pretty much useless on stock cams.

Crap on that! The original post was more of a tongue-twsister than anything else. Lighter cars don't need as much power as your old LS to beat you. If you want to win, do a swap or build a turbo kit. All-motor LS's aren't that quick unless you can drive really well, which judging by the way you type, is not how you drive. Start using periods and punctuation in your posts or else people are going to get all confused about the way his ZC and his SOHC beat your old LS even though you were supposed to make more power and have more mods than them in the quater mile and Vtec didn't kick when he hit the button and...I'm spent

Like stated above, crx and hatchbacks are lighter and therfore require less power to beat you. If you really want to beat em both quick and cheap (cheap compared to any other single mod that is) then may I introduce you to three little letters... N, O, and S. its as simple as it gets!
Like importdude2000 said "cam gears wont do **** without cams", so don't spend your money on **** that won't help you without other things done. Like me, I have a VAFC on my pretty much stock GSR and it isn't doing **** to make my car any faster, but luckly I bought the car with it already installed and didn't spend any extra cash for it.
Get yourself a nice set of cams, do something to improve air flow such as cai & headers, mabey a bigger throtle body as well, and them mabey you'll keep up with them a little better. Or if you got extra $$ to throw around then build your bottom end slap on a turbo and your set!

I wouldn't say a V-AFC is useless on a stock GS-R, you can use it to tweak the fuel curves, and tune out the power dip and hump normally seen at the VTEC crossover point. Ideally you want is as smooth a power curve as possible, with the VTEC crossover barely detectable on the dyno graph.

Ya man i have an 89 crx hf, with a zc swap. basic upgrades, dc header, ngk wires plugs, MSD, cam gear, act stage II clutch. blah blah.... the piont is. my car is not the fastest thing on the road but it is F*king light. and if your draging all you need is to have some power and not have wieght. if you want to beat him get rid of your 100k + mile engine, or boost the **** out of it. the other thing is the LS engine though B-series is very very simular to the zc. both lack Vtec, and besides the .2 litres of displacement not much else. you have a car that probly weighs 6-700 pounds more than his crx(depending on model and mods). THATS ALOT when it comes to straight line racing. and you both are probly puting down close to the same power.....you cacthing on now? wnat to win? get more power or cut up your car and throw out evrything you like about it.
then race him. when it comes to the SOHC zc, i dont ******* know... go get a tune
up or something.

heres some basic info on both dohc zc and LS

B18A1 2G - DB (displacement 1834) (comp 9.2 : 1)
(HP 140 @ 6300 rpm )(TR 121 lb/ft @ 5200 rpm)

ZC 4G - EF (Displacement 1595) (comp 9.6 : 1)
(HP130 @ 6800 rpm )(TR 106 lb/ft @ 5700 rpm)
