try scratch remover first before wetsanding. also, try using rubbing alcohol, goof off, and rubbing compound. Sanding is last resort.
Hey. a Marker is better than getting keyed though.

You could try goof off. My buddy's kid drew all over my refriderator with a sharpie once and I was able to get all of it off with goof off and it didn't even damage the refriderator's finish. But if you go this route be sure to test it in an area that isn't easily seen first. Good luck.

All good ideas, start with the simplest first... try goof-off, graffiti removeer stuff... if that doesn't work, get some laquer thinner from your local hardware store, that SHOULD take it off if it's not the "Industrial" style sharpie marker. It shouldn't hurt your paint, I've used it on my DA to get paint marks off from where another car scraped the paint, but I would definetly test it somewhere not visible first just to make sure.
Once you get it off, wash the car real well and wax and buff it.

clay bar. It says on there for paint overspray... but be careful... IMO i wouldn't sand anything or use any chemical unless i know for sure its safe.

Dont use goof off. It wil dull the paint pretty bad. I know I have done it.
First I would try a wax. I use Wax shop liquid wax, and I have been able to get door ding paint off.
Then try a scratch remover "wax" or try a paste type wax
If that does not work Try the clay bar
I am 99% sure it will come off with thoses steps If not Try a citrus based degreaser and if worse comes to worse then try goof off. But just put a drop on a rag and work a small area. As soon as you are done clean the area with soap and water then wax the hell out of it

simplest, try waxing/polishing it first. That alone will probably take it off.
I'd never use any of those goof off or grafitti removers, those CAN damage your paint depending on if your car has been repained EVER. From experience, repainted finish will dissolve/melt easier than the factory paint under harsh chemicals.
If waxing did NOT work, go buy some "wax and grease remover", they should have it at autoparts stores or automotive paint refinishing material stores. A nice body shop will have some and possibly clean off for you for FREE.

brake cleaner sprayed on a rag and then claybar. it got sharpie off of my kids bikes after they decided to "autograph" them. the brake cleaner thinned it out into a big smear and the claybar took the smear off. slowly.

Try nail polish remover. Make sure you get the one for dry brittle nails !
No seriously, my girlfriend told me this, also try hair spray. I know this gets permanent marker off clothes withouth doing any damage

brake cleaner will mess up the paint finish, its pretty strong stuff.
nail polish remover (those with Acetone) will mess up the paint's finish. Acetone is pretty much paint remover. Maybe okay for SOME clothes, but never put acetone on your car!

If nothing else works try paint thinner. Put it on a rag and then apply. Have some water handy and make sure to rinse the spot immediately. As long as you dont let it sit on your car it shouldnt damage it. Still, I would try some of the milder suggestions first.

no, we do it at the shop all of the time. we use the cheap autozone blrke parts cleaner. i would not want to leave it on there for any length of time though.

yeah tell us what they wrote???????????????
Get cellulose thinners from any auto shop and damp it first and then rub gently...that stuff will take of anything and wont harm the paint so long as you dont scrub the hell out of it, then wax and polish the effected area!
