Default Smog Question

Im interested in buying the XSi b16 off hmotors, but I dont really wanna have hassle with smog/state ref.

This question is for those who have done the swap or know about the swap, basically can it pass California Smog/State Ref?

i myself have never had a jdm motor swap, but i do know that more than half of the people who go 2 the refs dont pass. There was and article about it on Import Tuner last month or something. Good luck bro. If u do go along w/ the swap, hope u pass. Maybe a new cat will help a little.

I the car will pass as long as all the emssions devices are hooked up correctly. For example the intake manifold will not pass smog. I recommend a skunk 2 pro series mani, It is carb legal. Also buy a obd1 motor. If you buy a obd 0 motor forget about it. Make sure to have all carb legal things on your car. When you go to the ref he will check your wiring as well.

Im pretty sure the XSi engine is obd1 to begin with, so just the intake manifold is what wont pass? I pretty much figured that, The car over all is all stock no aftermarket intakes or headers

Oh yea don't forget to change the ecu to a US spec ecu. You might have change the throttle body too. It just depends how pickly the ref is?

I'am pretty sure if you have the right intake manifold and have all the sensors hooked up it should pass smog. I have a jdm gsr motor in my dc2 gsr and it passes smog. Hope that helps.

Yeah you guys have helped, my main dilemma was, would it be possible for it to pass, and you guys have answered that question, I've been debating for awhile, it was either swap or sell my DA, Thanks.
