silverstar 9005 conversion???
how do u do this conversion? any special equiptment needed? or do u jus put the silverstar 9005 in, its for my 2001 gsr...and how long do they last? any pics would be nice. thanx

as for tools.. it would be very handy to have a small soldering iron and razor because you have to cut (or burn off) the 2 little notches inside the socket of the bulb. Something that was never mentioned to me when I did the install was; After I finished burning the notches off my bulb I was ready to plug the suckers in to find out that I had to mod the outer ring of the bulb because 9005 were not made to fit the 9006 socket, obviously.
My silverstar 9005 lasted 11 months until 1 bulb burned out. Bought a cheap $18/pair GE 9005 replacement and put it in. Light output seems almost the same, the silverstar has a slightly whiter silver color. The GE bulb actually seems brighter in some cases though. I'm running 1 silverstar and one GE bulb right now.

eh just go ahead and put both those GE's in, mis-matched headlight bulbs look so we-todd-did
After one of my Silverstars burned out, I took the other one out and threw my 9005 Cool Blues back in (had them in before the SS's). They lasted me another 8 months after that before one finally burned out, 2 days before I put the HID in.
