Side Impact Beam
Do 94 Integras have side impact beams? I remember in 1997 the gov't started with mandates that they were necessary, wasn't sure if Honda started adding them earlier.
I just saw a really nasty accident, with a car getting T-boned. I couldn't help think about my car.

Well, here's the relevant passage from the press material:
"Side-Impact Protection
To help minimize injury to the occupant in a side-impact collision, the Integra features door intrusion beams as well as energy-absorbing pads in the doors.
On the Sports Sedan, there is a polypropylene pad located at hip level and a styrofoam pad located at shoulder level for both front and rear doors. The Sports Coupe, due to its different structural architecture, requires only a polypropylene pad. These pads substantially reduce the energy transmitted to the occupants in the event of an accident."

And here are some photos and illustrations of the beams and pads. Notice the lower beam added to the newer model (2nd to last photo), as intrusion protection was lacking there as is evident in the subsequent photo.

That's actually a picture of a 96-98 Civic from a photo set I found one day, but it's practically identical to the Integra in terms of side impact equipment.
Here's all the pictures:

I also became curious about the Integra's safety one day and found this stuff browsing the internet. I liked studying the side impact pictures to see how well it held up. I have several more.

I don't think the 94 2-Door Integras have the beams in the doors. I don't know what year they started using them, but I did have a set of scrap doors at one point without the extra support.
If you're going to shave the side moldings, 94 doors are your friend.

As far as when they began using them, though it doesn't mention them in the press literature, there appear to be stamped steel intrusion beams in both previous generation Integras. They are labeled as 4/8 and 5/6 in the pictures, and are described as beams.

As far as I know, the car that they came from was a stock 94 GSR. Anything is possible though, I guess. Interesting..
Just so we're clear, the "beams" I am talking about are visible in this picture that you posted, on the passenger side door. That round bar on the lower right is the variable that I'm speaking of.

The model in that picture is a 98+ which has two beams, an upper and lower one. You can see the upper one peeking through an opening in the door above the speaker. Previous models only had the upper beam. It seems you meant your 94 doors didn't have the lower beams, which is correct.
Here's another picture of the same car:

Those beams are extremely thin, better then nothing, but dont think they are going to save your life when you get t-boned at 50mph. Yes, the 94s have them as well, remember seeing the beam in my doors and laughing because I thought it was something with a little beef to it, which it wasn't/.
