Default Shift and clutch problems

My first mistake was teaching 3 people how to drive manual on my 94 teg. Soon after, my clutch broke on me. I took it to our mechanic, he replaced the clutch and refurbished the pressure plate. Now when I drive it, I noticed some problems. First of all, shifting into 2nd from either 1st or 3rd gives me problems. It doesn't go in smoothly and there is a short stall/delay before it actually shifts into gear. Second, the clutch wont catch at RPMs higher than 5-6k. The rev needle will just keep bouncing off redline. Under normal driving conditions, the car drives fine. I took it back to the mechanic but he said it was fine. haha, I think I need a new mechanic. Anyone know what the problem(s) may be? I think the shift delay is caused by some synchro problem. if anyone can help me out, that'd be great. thnx

btw, there are NO grinding noises when shifting.
