Default Shaving Holes

Well..It finally happened to me. Some immature jacka** stole my emblems off my car. Thats not the bad part, it's that they had to leave two nice scratches. Thanks to mr.Screwdriver. Anyways....now that they're gone, and i have a scratch on both the front and the back, i wanted to shave the holes because i see no point in replacing it and having it stolen again. Does anyone know how much tthis costs to shave the holes? And is it worth telling my insurance? My deductible is 100 dollars.

you can do it yourself, a guy i met did all of his shavings himself, for the big stuff ie doorhandles he did the actuall welding method of shaving, but for his trunk key holes and emblems he just used bondo(i dont know how long it will last) so try to get someone who works at a body shop to do it on the side, u will save so much money, later

hm...i don't exactly trust myself doing it. Unfortunately i dont' know anyone that works at the body shop....I just want it all done professionally and for my car to look like new without the emblems on it ya know? How would i go about fixing the scratch? It seems pretty deep....it goes down to the metal. I was thinking that they would have to sand it down and even it out and everything. I was hoping of paying only 200 dollars for the front and back together. Is that price too unrealistic?

how did you get a 100 doller deductable???? go for it if you only have to pay 100 bucks. a guy from my work quoted me for (filling holes in front, rear "A" holes and rear "Acura" badge holes and painting stock side skirts) for only 310. i think thats a reallly good deal for all the stuff hes doin. so guess around 250+

well i'm paying premium insurance, which lets me have that luxury of a 100 dollar deductible. I'm just afraid my rates are gonna jump up like crazy just cause of this stupid emblem thing. When shaving the holes...it should fix my scratch at the same time right? cause they have to sand it down and smooth it out, then paint over it right? What do you guys think of an integra with no emblems on the back and none in the front?

don't even consider claiming it through insurance, they will most likely hassle you into just buffing the scratches and replacing the emblems which will be less than the deductible.

i don't know where you guys are getting those crazy quotes to have your emblems shaved though. the labor is pretty extensive for what seems like such a simple thing.

i got a quote from several body shops to have my spoler removed, runs around 500 for a good weld job and repaint...to do a good job by the way...i dont know about the emblems...the front bumper is urethane, which is easy to do repairs on...the rear of course id metal, which a good body shop will want to weld...it all depends on their labor costs(which is usually anywhere between 30-45 bucks per hr.)

500 bucks? wow..."Oooouch" says mr.Wallet. I think i'll reconsider shaving my holes if it's gonna cost me anything near that range.

Just ask ANY good body shop what it would cost to repaint your front bumper and trunk lid the same color..... Having 2 emblems shaved will cost about $100 + more than that figure.... simple....

*Shaved Door handles
*Shaved Key holes
*Shaved Emblems
*Shaved Acura symbol
*Shaved Antenna
*Shaved Face
*Shaved Head

hell, I'm gonna get my L.plate to read: Shaved ........ maybe.....
