ok, go to your local auto parts store and for like 30 bucks get an inductive timing gun. set your cam and crank timing to top dead center #1 cylinder (line up the white mark on the top of the crank pulley, nearest the block with the pointer on the timing belt cover). take off your old distributor and put on the new one. then, take your timing gun. clip the inductive pickup to the #1 cylinder spark plug wire, and then the positve to the battery positive and ground the negative on like the top of the strut tower or some other bolt nearby. start your car, and then aim the gun at the crank pulley and hold the trigger down. the object is to line up the 3 red marks on the crank pulley with the pointer on the outside of the timing belt cover. move the distributer as needed to get the lines to match up with the pointer when the car is idling and the gun is flashing on the crankpulley. when you get it down, tighten down the 3 bolts holding the distributor to the head. i think its somewhere around 14 ft/lbs, but just do it hand tight with a wratchet and you should be golden.
