Security Idea - inline fuse
I have an idea I plan to implement soon, I plan to cut the power wire to the ECU and run wires from each end down through the car and either under the dash, under the seat, or in the center console I will put a inline fuse. Just figured I would share the idea with you guys. I will be cutting the harness further up from the ECU so that the cut and extension wires/splicing can't be seen, and the fuse holder is so small that I doubt anyone will notice it even if they were looking for it. I plan to use a higher amp fuse then needed to withstand the voltage just to make sure it wont blow out, and i'll just pull the fuse anytime I get out of the car to go to the movies or in the mall or anywhere for a long period of time. I realize that they could simply pull a fuse from the fusebox and stick it in and boom theres the fix but the thing is, they wont know what the hell they are looking for, and the holder is so small that its not obvious at all, they would have to know exactly what they were looking for. Here's what i'm looking at getting for this:

First off wont this re-set the ECU everytime you pull the fuse??
Second why dont you look for a more unique fuse, some thieves actually have fuses, or if they see this little fuse holder they will just jump it.
I would look for a more heavy duty/weird type fuse that would be harder to jump.

i know you tryin to help but i wouldnt give out to much info on your security plans, on a site where everyone can view(even thieves) just be careful

Exactly what I was going to say. That's too much info, and now pretty much pointless since everyone can see what you're doing so they know exactly what to look for

actually im not really too worried about my car getting stolen, I do take the security measures but in all reality I could leave my car out in front of my house unarmed, and unlocked all night and not think twice about it, I live in a small enough town where the only real thiefs are petty thiefs that just want your deck or subs(which i dont have)... and my deck is installed very well, they'll either spend 30 min + getting the right tool in the right size to get my deck out or they'll have to get a torch and start cutting away under my dash. And about it resetting the ECU I guess that's probably right, it probably would reset it... guess i'll have to choose another wire to interrupt that will render the vehicle unstartable.
That's a lot of work for something that's not that great of an idea. Some people like to take fuses out of their fuse box and replace them with clipped fuses (it's a non-functional fuse that looks functional). This eliminates a number of problems. Your fuse box won't look like it's missing any fuses, none of the fuses will look blown, thieves won't think it's a fuse problem, and even if thieves think it's a fuse problem then it will delay thieves in figuring out which fuses are not working.
