RPMs Jumping
Hey I have a 96 Acura Integra. When I bought my car I realize that my RPMs starts jumping around after it hit 3k. I checked my ready from my ecu and it is reading correctly. I swap gauge clusters and its still acting up (waste of money). The only think I can think of is my distributor. I don't want to buy a new one if it isn't the problem. I will not be able to return it if it is installed. Is there any way to check if a distributor is putting out the right reading to my gauge? Can there be any other thing that can cause my RPMs to act up the way it is?
It's the igniter inside the distributor ! I had this issue not more then a week ago. an OEM Honda igniter will run you something like 250$ get a new dizzy from you're local JDM importer that's what I did and works just fine. I'm one to spend extra for the good stuff but it add up after a while lol.
Also, the ignitor has a heatsink on it. The new one may or may NOT come with one. if it doesn't, it usually comes with thermal paste so you can pop the old heatsink off and glue it to the new ignitor. YOU NEED TO HAVE THE HEATSINK otherwise it won't be able to screw onto the distributor and it will burn out and overheat.
