rpms going crazy!
well for the past 2, 3 days now i have turned on my car and the rmps will jump up to 3000 when it is cold. but when the car warms up it will sit below 2000 but will jump up and down. it has never done this before. i need to fix quick. some one help me.
i had that happen before. for me it turned out to be a series of problem. first, i had to change my spark plug wires. second i found out oil was leakin into my first cylinder causing it to misfire, and so i had to change my head gasket. did ur check engine light go on?

those rpms are kinda high. normally when i hear that "rpms are jumping" most people reccomend to check a series of things beginning with:
-vaccum lines around the intake area. = checked by hand & visual
-bad IM gakset or TB gasket. = checked with carb cleaner watching for rpm up-jump when sprayed.
-bad sensors 1) IACV 2) TPS 3) FITV = checked with voltage tool and FITV by placing your finger over a small opening just inside the TB.
search with those key terms i listed 4 mo' info.

it sounds like the same problem i had when i went to willow. i would start my car and it would idle at like 4k, then go down to 2k then up and down. took it to acura and it turned out to be a bad IACV, got it replaced and bingo-bango.
on my toyotoa previa they rpms will jump like 2k from wherever it was was because some kind of fluid was leaking onto some wire.... (i know i'm ambiguous cuz i don't know exactly what i'm talking about) and that wire getting wet caused the rpms to jump... i dunno if your case is the same cuz the previa engine is designed way different from the integras...

Just bring it to the shop and let them do it cause you found oil in your sparkplugs where the oil is not supposed to be there. this happended to my friend 95 Rs a couple days ago, his car wouldn't start because of this .
It might be the distributor like some people said above too.
