How long have you noticed it being this way..?

if you've slung all the grease out from the boot the joint is gonna be dry and your gonna haft to replace the axle.. if it hasn't been ripped for a long time you might be able to just replace the boot.

Does the axle pop or make any noise..?

It's really hard for me to guess and say how long it will last.. It could last 3,000 miles and it could last 9,000 miles.. Never know.

Don't drive and get the new boot ASAP! If I am not mistaken the grease comes with the new boot.

As Jimmy said, does it pop or make any noise like a clicking noise when you turn left or right? If so, you are too late. Do you have OEM axles? If you do, you might want to check out raxles.com.

This is where I got both axles, and they have great customer services! If your axles are ""old"" instead of doing a half "SHAFT AXLE CV JOINT" you might just go and buy whole new axles and have a local mechanic put it in for you! (SAVE $$$)

Total for both axles were 302.55 on the 94RS. But you got to send back the core/the whole axles. Put it back in the same box the axles came and it has a prepaid ticket inside. (You don’t spent a dime to send it back)

Just something to look at...Good luck. As for me drive with new axles and not making a clicking noise when turning is "GREAT!" Drove me crazy for weeks!

The only reason I didn't go with napa or any auto store is that a few friends have used their axles or was it the half only to have them go back 2 or 3 times. I guess for a few is the luck of the straw.

I paid $302.55... If not in Florida you won’t have to pay the sale tax which is 7% here. So, I paid shipping and the sale tax. Something to look into if $$$$ is tight. I wanted it done the first time right and not having to go back and getting a replacement which I know it is free, but the labor if you cant do the job yourself can come costly..... just added 2 cents... or

Then get the boot before it's to late!

I never got the poping sound.... I had the clicking sound when turning a full left. The only poping or sound I got like that was from the LCA (lower control arm) I thoght they were the shocks at frist slamming when I hit a big pot hole or spped bumps, but the bushing were gone. So, I just got a new LCA. Not to say the shocks weren't gone- cause they were!
anyone need a LCA-need new bush for them

The question is are you getting that sound as your turn? If you are then I guess that is what jimmy is talking about.

Maybe this link might help you out http://raxles.com/axleparts.aspx

I have personally seen people with torn axle boots still driving for months...

Me, personally, it would be at the top of my priority list...

Auto parts store offer great parts, Advance Auto Parts is where I bought my driver and passenger side axle, just return the core and it'll be about $80, so far, so good...

I'd replace the boot. I drove on a ripped boot for a couple months until the axle crapped out on me. Having an axle go out on your way home isn't very fun.

I bought my axle from O'Reilly Auto Parts. It was about $70-80 when I returned the old one.

usually its better to just replace the whole axle, dirt and junk gets in there with the ripped boot, plus its easier to replace the whole thing. ive had a ripped boot on mine for months and it just recently started clicking so im gonna replace it this weekend (havent had too much time lately)

i did both mine a few months ago..Boots ripped and i drove on them for months until the axle tick really bothered me so i did one side thinking that was it. Was fairly easy and then still had the tick, did the other side and everything was solved until other problems.(Thanks integra) Maybe drop 2-3000 miles with slightly ripped axles.

I got a bargain on my driver side axle, 60$$, the passenger side was about $75 i think after the core charge.

If you do it yourself it wont run over $175 for both axles and the axle socket(i doubt you have this size laying around)

if your car has lots of miles on it than replace the whole thing. I've also bought from auto part store and never had any problem with it.

Just take it to a shop to get it rebuild....They'll check it if its still good and then they'll grease it back up and put a new boot replacing the torn one and your done all for about 30 to 45 bucks well here in cali. We do this all the time with our cars and our customers cars too, never any problems..... Its quite easy to replace them but if you dont have the tools dont bother..

He's talking about a socket big enough to take the axle nut off.

32 mm socket, and i was also driving mine around for months, my axle nuts are a pain to get off, you should probably replace those nuts while your at it.
