My passenger side axle is slinging a little grease. I cant find out where its coming from though, it seems to be in tact. I guess i'll take out the axle and examine it closer. Its been re-booted before.

Re: How long can my CV joint last (blykins)
I've been driving my car on clicking axles for god knows how long. I'd guess probably about 6000 miles if not more.

Well all i can say is that all you guys are driving on borrowed time!! Why chance it? That not really something that i would want in my mind at 100 + on a mountain road, or rush hour traffic. IMO

Does anybody know how difficult it is just to replace a cv boot and not the whole axle? Mine just started spewing grease out, not sure how long its been doing this for though?

It isn't very hard, but its time consuming. If your outer boot is torn, you still have to remove the inner boot to gain access to the outer boot. Its messy as hell but if your axles aren't knocking just the boots can be replace. IMO 60 bucks and a lifetime warrantee at autozone is the way to go.

Just fix it. Today I changed the axle, transmission fluid, ball joint boot. All that took about an hour, so it's not time consuming. Better safe than sorry.
