Default rich or lean?

Ok guys, i got a little problem here. My autometer air fuel ratio guage indicates that my car is running very lean and it bogs at idle and also around 2500 rpms. But when i took my plugs out to see, they were black as if it was running rich? fuel filter gauge is at 46psi, and also for temp i'm running a p28 ecu on a b20b motor. could that be the problem? Thanks for the help guys!

I recently had a running rich problem. As you just said i pulled my plugs and they were black as hell so i cleaned them and checked them in a week just to confirm and yeah they were black again so i did some research and found out my AEM FPR was set 8 PSI to high for my engine. So I made the adjustments and the mileage has been so kick *** ever since lol.

92 GS with 2nd gen B16A engine swap in it, set to 36 PSI with the vacuum hose OFF the FPR. just to give you an idea.

it definitely sounds like ur running rich to me and that you need to adjust ur FPR badly.

well, the thing is that i'm running a stock b20 fuel rail, b20 fpr, dx injectors and a walbro 255... Could it be that the fpr is bad? running too rich would cause it to bog like it is? Thanks for the help.

Many conditions could cause blackness of the plugs, including oil fouling.

That pump probably bumped up your pressure to what it is,
do you have an adjustable FPR? If you do, set it back down to 38-40 psi.

And that a/f ratio gauge you have, if it's the one you can get for $50-70(narrow band),
you won't get **** from that, all it does it blink lights, don't use it as a guide.

No, i don't have a adjustable fpr but i'll probaly pick one up now to see what happens... Yeah it's the narrow band air fuel gauge... As for the oil fouling, it's pretty much dark already, less then a mile on it too. anyone else got any ideas? Thanks for the help guys.

Actually a narrow band O2 sensor is perfectly fine for telling you if you're running rich or lean. It just wont tell you HOW rich or lean and you can't tune with it.

P28 on a B20... You need to either run the correct ECU for the motor or get a standalone like the AEM EMS and get it tuned. Nothing else in the world will compensate for the wrong ECU, and you will never experience the potential of the motor. You may even destroy it.

p28 chipped will take care of all your problems with a good tune of cause and no need for a fpr if you have it chipped and tuned
