Default Replacing Locknuts (Spring Installation)

When I install my springs next weekend I'm gonna replace my locknuts as well. Did anyone replace their's when you installed them? The locknuts in the bottom of the fork for the front struts uses a 17mm wrench right? Well in my Helm's manual, it says the size is 12 x 1.25mm. What does that mean? Coarse thread, Fine thread?

1.25 is the thread spacing. Just use the old bolt/nut. Properly torqued they will not come loose.

BTW never knew they were locknuts. Mine have been apart atleast 15 times.
