hey everyone..im running a dc 4-2-1 with apex 2.25 catback with stock cat...with ES exhaust
..really good response but my mechanic said to remove the cat and i would feel a huuuuge difference..well i would do it if my car wasnt a daily driver..i want to feel vtec a little better but then again i dont want a loud noise that everyone can hear from a mile away... i just want a deep sound to it...it sounds perfect now but that stock cat isnt doing anything good so any suggestions?...i kinda want a rattle to it..but not exaggerated

Get a high flow cat. To most people, the extra 1-2 hp (or whatever is it) between a test pipe and a high flow cat isnt worth having a car that smells like rotton eggs and pollutes like a 3 story tire fire.

It doesnt make a big difference. It makes 1 or 2 more horsepower. You wont even feel that on the butt dyno, its called a placebo - do yourself a favor and get a highflow cat. save the environment while your at it.

Another good point.
It will give your exhaust a very hollow/tinny sound. The kind you associate with 16 year old kids who have stock civics with a folders can for a muffler.

with those mods, high flow is the best call
if you are turbo, then get a test pipe, and no, it doesn't smell bad at all, and it's only loud if you have a cheap exhaust

sorry but not familiar with exhaust parts..so what about the resenator?...remove or leave it?...how would it sound without it?
You are in CA, running anything other than stock is a risk, but getting pulled over and not having a cat is a big deal to the cops. Just get a high flow.
