Really rough idle question.....
Hi, I have a manual trans. 99 Integra with a B16A Vtec. It has a really rough idle. The idle RPM's will vary from 2900 when cold to almost at zero (without stalling) when warmed up. I also have an engine light on because of a purge flow problem. Could the two be related? I tried fuel injector clener with no luck. Any advice? Also, is it dangerous for me to be driving around with the purge flow problem? Money is a bit tight right now....hoping to get it looked at next week.
Thanks
Charley

Please I appreciate all the help I can get. I'm just starting to get more interested in the guts of a car, and I'm new to modifying. I hope to get her turbo-charged as soon as I fix this other **** that's wrong with her (yes my integra is a girl, only a female would have an attitude like that!!)

maybe try going OBD1 to get rid of that cell - prolly cheaper and will allow you to tune it better. OBD1 dosent check for that purge valve.
I did a swap and no matter what I did I kept getting that purge valve code - so I just switched to OBD1

That has to be my issue, too. I had it at the mechanic yesterday and he said that as long as i have an OBD2 with the Vtec, that light will be on, but that doesn't seem to answer the question about the idle problem... : (

OBD2 + Vtec do not equal CEL. BTW, what ECU/wiring are you using?

First of all, tell your mechanic that he's a retard, and never go back to him ever again. Then do a search on how to tighten up and clean your IACV.
