Radio code retrival problems

Radio code retrival problems
From what I have read, with my VIN, registration, and radio serial code I can get my unlock code for the radio. However, when I turn the key to ON position and press 1 and 6 presets: All I get is "CODE" on the display.
I have a 1995 Acura Integra LS
I have this error because I took my car in to fix the abs light - sensor wasn't working - my mechanic had to reset the computer and when he disconnected the car battery it set off the so-called anti theft device.
Can someone please explain how I should go about getting the radio serial number without pulling out my dashboard?
I do not have the original owners manual -
Thanks

Re: Radio code retrival problems (Alpha5732)
you need to get the serial # from the radio and call and Acura dealership... They should be able to give you the code over the phone since I did it once... or you can check in the owners manual... My card with the radio code was in it.

So there is no way to reset this stereo without removing the dashboard to get to the stereo?
What if I take it to a acura dealer? Will they be able to reset my stereo? I don't have the time or money to remove the dashboard, just to reset the stereo -
Are there ANY OTHER OPTIONS? or am i screwed?

Do you have the radio serial number? If not, then yes you need to remove the radio to find the serial number label. A dealer will do it for you, but it obviously won't be free.

You're making this seem more complicated than it really is. You don't have to remove the dashboard, and it won't cost you any money if you do it yourself. It's a pretty straightforward procedure.

Well I just briefly looked at the how the stereo is set in the dash, and it looks as though the only way to remove it, is to remove the entire dash - there is no other way to access the side of the radio to remove it, unless it there is some special trick - or it is mounted differently then a normal stereo. Unless you know something that I don't, my only option is remove the entire bottom half of the dash which is btw connected underneath the top part(has to be removed as well) - probably a 2-4 hour job to completely remove and replace. Is there some way to go through the hood/firewall and see the radio serial?
I am not sure what I am complicating about it, I just want to know what options I have besides paying someone to replace the radio - or remove it for a serial number...
So far I have been told I have only one option, which does not work for me.. I would never have imagined that this radio would cause so many problems
Would there happen to be a list of possible codes? I would rather spend an hour putting in random codes on the off chance it will unlock.
It also has an alpine Cd changer attached to it, which I can get the serial number for, but I am guessing this was an after market addition.
Acura doesn't not have a record of stereo's serial via VIN?

Re: (CompanyFlow)
Even if you have never taken a factory Honda radio out before, it should not take longer than an hour, probably even less time. Without your owner's manual, there is no way to find the serial number without reading it off of the sticker on the radio.
Keep in mind, looks can be deceiving, and I know for a fact that you do not have to remove the entire dash to take out the radio.
Yeah it is a pain to go through this when no thief worth a damn is trying to jack OEM radios, but it is just one of the joys of working around a problem instead of making it more than it really is.

well if I can remove the pieces around it so to speak and get it out without removing the dashboard, then that is no real problem - I have installed stereos before but it has been about 10 years - and honestly looking at it - one would assume that you would have to remove the entire dash..
See if I can get around to it next weekend.. thanks everyone for your help

Re: (Alpha5732)
I usualy just pull the center console its only like 6-8 screws and then from there you can push the radio out by reaching your hand up behind it, I don't recall my radio having any screws in it, I thought it was just clip in however I am not positive. If I am wrong or you need a visual you can google it and there are a few write-ups online (pretty sure there is one on Team-integra.net)
