i know this has been covered before, but im getting a new header, and i want to know if theres much power difference gains between a 4-1 and a 4-2-1 header setup.ive read ppl saying the 421 is low to mid power, and the 41 is all top end, then ive seen the 421 was mid to top end.im looking for mostly all top end for my build.if anyone has some good answers please let me know, thanks.
get a 4-1 for the most high end... the more you pay the more HP you will make and the more TQ you will keep.
Cheapest thing I would get is a JDM ITR or the DC replica... comptech is nice also.

stock cat is restrictive, better to get a dynatech or something like that. You can however keep it with alot of headers, they just dont make as much top end power.
Comptech, dc and others that have a standard collector will fit with no mods.

get this header:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1
and this cat:
http://www.rpmoutlet.com/powercat.htm
with these flanges:
http://www.kteller.com/store/p.../1065
and this piping:

and a muffler of your choice, maybe one of these:

Will be loud, but wide open. will gain you alot of HP over stock and possibly a little bit of torque.

from what i know yes the stock GSR header is shorter, and if you want top end flow the 2.5" collector on the JDM type r header or the DC clone will do you good assuming you run 2.5" all the way thruout

i really suggest you get a megan racing 4-1 from devltuning.com
it is a copy of the jdm itr 4-1, but it will bolt up to your gsr (with a cat with a larger flange). no fussing with lengths.

you have a 94, they are comptech 4-2-1 SS 1 piece but it won't fit your car, but i have skunk2 stage 1 cams, and a vafc 2 for sale as well if u are intrested, and a comptech ice box and air intake, but that will work with a gsr with a skunk2 intake mainfold or type R or ls
