Default quick question

im finally getting a new car and i cant decided between a 96 gsr or a 99 gsr. theyre both stock for around the same price. i am also worried about theft, in my area there is quite a few theft incidents, plus i dont have a garage to park my car in. my friend has told me that the 99 gsr's have a chip in the key and that makes it harder to start the car without the chip. i was wondering if this is true. thanks guys!

99+ does have a coded key. however its still easy to steal it. it'll jus take 3 more minutes. if they're the same price however, id get the 99 (unless its the same price cause it has a butt-load of milage)

well the 99 model has about 54xxx miles on it with just a few rock chips on the front bumper and the 96 has about 70xxx miles to it with the normal wear and tear. i didnt think it would be that easy to steal a teg with a chip, wouldnt there have to be a connected signal? and isnt the only way to do that through the key? maybe its just because im clueless to all this but i dont see a way around all that.

In that case I'd go with the 99. Not only is it newer with fewer miles, it has certain cosmetic features such as the updated bumpers.

my friend...as deeaye9 has said, chip or no chip-it don't matter...just think it as not even being there. if you start hanging around this board for sometime, you will notice there are stolen tegs almost everyday...whether they're 94 or 99, if the thives want it they'll take it. if the thives think that a chip is a problem, they'll just get a tow truck...you know what i mean??
p.s.- thives suck.

About the tow truck deal at least it cuts down on the amount of theives.

I would get the 99 the tail lights and amber frt turn signals look so much better.
