question on removing center front console
so i did my first DIY today. installing a new head unit. unfortunately it didn't go too smoothly. after removing the center console i proceeded to remove the one in the front after removing the ashtray, the lighter, etc. the problem is i have a transmission lock. i think it's the suffolk transmission lock, it came with the car when i bought it. my question is, is it possible to remove the front console with the lock in the way? because i can't seem to pull it out. the parts seem like they were sawed or cut to fit the lock. is there a specific way for me to pull the console out? I also lost a screw somewhere in there. I ended up installing the headunit the ghetto way, by stick 2 flatheads on each side of the pocket, popping the old head unit out and putting the new one in. thing is, now it easily slides out of the pocket if i pull on it.

i did follow that. the problem i have is the fact that i have a transmission lock. the metal piece is bolted onto the chassis under everything in the gearbox. i can't pull out the console because the transmission lock is in the way.it won't slide back
