well its because the higher the rpm the harder vtec is gonna pull. due to it being spun faster. but this is the ghetto way to having vtec i use to do the same thing in my ef with the high beams lol but it works just keep it the way it is or just get a vtec controller

I was talking with an SCCA guy about the GSR engine he said you can gain power by activating the V-tech with a pushbutton switch on the shifter instead of letting it activate automatically. I've never heard of someone doing this and had his integra setup that way. Is there any truth to his claim he also told me he only activates his V-tech at 6000 RPM on his integra gsr. Normally I wouldn't give it allot of stock but the guys highly ranked
its not a dumb question, tons of people do it. but if you can have it work with your ecu than dont do it. if you ever drove a stock vtec car, notice the vtec will not always engage in the exact same rpm depending on how u drive it. its not a huge difference but when you hammer on it it will engage slightly sooner cause the oil pressure is high and if your light on the throttle it will engage slighty later. having it on a switch, the oil pressure might not be right and you could blow something..
