Default Problems with Teggy ...

I wasn't sure where to post so I figured I would try here. I have a 95 Integra GS-R. Lately the clutch has been squeaking, and occasionaly the car surges up in power even after the clutch has been disengaged.

Today on the freeway something scary happened, but I am not sure if it is clutch related or not. I was in 4th gear, entering about 5400 rpms where you can hear the VTEC cross over, but instead I didn't here anything except the engine stuttering and then the CEL came on.

I freaked out and thought, I have to get this thing into VTEC, so I down shifted to 3rd and floored it. The car zipped up to 6k and stayed there making the ruuunnn-ruunnn-ruuunnnn noise of the rev-limiter.

Me =

I pulled the car off the freeway, parked and then turned off the ignition, waited a couple of minutes then cranked it. No more CEL ... I drove it home staying under 3k the whole time.

I don't know what the problem is or what to do about it.

I'd look into getting a new clutch.

Try this:

With the car stopped, push clutch in, put it in 5th gear, hold rpms at 3k, and drop the clutch. Does it stall INSTANTLY? If not, time for a clutch.

It sounds like your engine was running in safe mode, the rev limiter engages at 6K and the CEL light will turn on. Check the CEL code, it may be your VTEC solenoid, maybe it's malfunctioning...

Could that be anything to do with the fact that I have this ITR intake cam now. Maybe if the install was less than perfect, could it cause a problem like this?

Could it be a clutch related issue? Could the clutch force the engine to go into safe mode if it was acting strangely?

Next time the CEL comes on, check out which code it is.

You stay in Plano, I live in Lewisville. If your having problems with check engine light e-mail me and I'll help you. Mine came on and my friend who lives in Carrollton read mine and figured it out. E-mail me at THE RZA 85@aol.com.

How do I do that?
There's a blue service connector near the glove box, lower right area, it should be tucked in on the side there. You need to connect the two prongs together with a paper clip or something. Then turn your key to the 2nd click, and your check engine light should fla will start with a few slow flashes, and then fast flashes. The slow flashes represent the 10's digit, and the fast flashes represent the 1's. So for example, if it flashes 4 times slow, then 5 times fast, it's code 45.

Sorry for the bad explanation. If you have trouble finding the connector, just stick your head under the glove box and look up, you should see a blue one.
