Default maybe a clutch problem??

today when i left the house everything was okay until i came to a stop at the light. when i started out in 1st everything was ok, but when i shifted from 1st to 2nd my car revved like it was in neutral so i push the clutch down but it was really easy to push down (didn't feel like the clutch normally does). i tried to shift back into 2nd and again the engine revved like it was in neutral so i went back to 1st and the same thing happen. i pulled over to a parking lot and tried starting in 1st and 2nd and reverse but the engine would just rev like its in neutral. it feels as if the clutch is still engaged or something. no matter what gear it is put in, it just revs like it does when the clutch is press down or when the car is in neutral. just wondering if you guys could suggest what might be wrong or if this has happen to you what did you do to fix it? thanks!

You don't have a clutch cable. All '92+ Civics have a hydraulically actuated clutch.

Civics from 92 and up are not cable operated, they are hydraulically operated...so there is no "clutch cable"

edit: ****! BEATEN BY TARGA!!!

Anyway...to the thread starter it sounds like maybe one of the springs in your clutch popped out or something...only way to know for sure is to take off ur tranny and look y0

okay, yeah i thought it was hydraulically operated. the other day when driving i did notice something weird. when pressing down the clutch pedal to change gear it wouldn't come all the way up and i could actually hear it pop up. i had my foot over the pedal and could feel it, seem like it came up halfway and then i felt it pop up. and now i get no response in any gear.

i mainly want something that will last. i don't plan on doing that many more performance mods so i guess the stock clutch would be okay. but i have never priced a stock clutch, i figure it will probably be more expensive than an aftermarket one. also i know they have different stages clutch. driving wise and with my mods would a stage 1 be better than a 2?

it could be your slave cylinder make it so you can push it down easily but not have it really do anything

yea. got mine for about $130 shipped. aftermarket performance would be like $400+

doing it yourself will save you a few hundred, and you also learn something new.
